Royal Hem SS2013

THE EXPAT MOVES BACK

The Safari Dweller Returns to the Metropolis

Royal Hem

SS2013

The Spring Summer 2013 collection from Royal Hem is a celebration of British Colonization and the global traveller. The collection is a play on classic attire adorned for high teas under the African sun, recalling scenes from “Out of Africa” and the British Regimental style the expat who moves back to a contemporary day metropolis, retaining his memories of a beautiful, relaxed and yet elegant Africa.

Minimal, safari cool is an evident theme running throughout the new collection that features Royal Hem informal luxury styled reworked classics. Tunic style jackets are refined and unstructured, in fine and luxury cottons and linens, just like things were in times past. Regimental inspired blazers feature bespoke hand made details such as contrasting stitching on the pockets.

Jackets are teamed with easy, yet stylish pants, and resort style shorts.  This season Royal Hem also introduces a new jacket model, Lille, based on the structure of a shirt, that is unlined and very deconstructed, featuring with a fine selvedge tape applied to both statement patch pockets and to jacket vents and the stitching used is traditionally for working with jersey fabrics.

Colours range from light and natural tones, sands, off white panna, sugar and tobacco hues with contrasting khakis and regimental institutional colour such as blues, reds and greens.

As with every Royal Hem Collection, the fabrics selected are of a unique quality with an emphasis on refined details and ultra fine weaves that are complimented with contrasting hand crafted details and accessories, making each garment truly bespoke.

This season also sees the introduction of some key accessories to the collection, comprising 3 leather bags that compliment the collection in terms of both natural leather colour shades and the entire collection theme. This accessories line, creates a total look for the brand and will be expanded further for the Fall Winter 2013/14 collection with a line of Royal Hem footwear “Made in Italy”.

Fine lightweight linens, chambrays; satin stone washed cottons, jacquards, hopsacks, which are faded and washed, jerseys and raw finished fabrics all feature.

The formal side of the collection, instead features well structured pieces that feature in fine lightweight fabrics including luxurious wools in dark inky blues, stone greys, rich blacks and petroleum blues featuring hidden contrasting details such as minimal effects such as black lapels collars on a ink blue 2 piece suits, and fine red contrasting stitching around lapels and button holes on blazers. Lapels are very slim and blazers feature one or two button closures, creating very simple clean lines and emphasising a contemporary elegance for the season ahead.
